It’s that time of year!!! All the Octoberfest and Pumpkin beers are hitting the shelves! I don’t know about you but my beer tastes fluctuate with the seasons. No, this it’s not just because of availability either! 😉
So walking through my local HEB I stumbled across this little gem brewed right here in Houston.
Karbachtoberfest! I love the twist on the name – it’s not just any other “Octoberfest” is Karbachtoberfest!
Let’s just start with the can! I love the story on the back – makes me want to get a ticket and head to Germany! I’ve never experienced Octoberfest in Germany, hospital but it is on the bucket list….especially if this brew is any indication of the great beer I would try there!! Bavaria knows their brewing, that’s for sure!
I won’t lie….I googled what “Eins, Xwei, G’suffa!” meant and that made me appreciate this can even more! It’s essentially One, Two, Drink! 🙂
On to the good stuff….so how did it taste, you ask?
While more amber in color, it was a nice medium bodied lager with a slight sweetness/fruitiness. Not overpoweringly pumpkin as with some of the seasonal brews out there. This was just the right amount of sweet, malt and hops. I liked that it was slightly carbonated and there were not any bitter notes, in fact it was almost a creamy softness. It was so easy to drink and smooth going down. Full disclosure…this six-pack didn’t last long. 😉
I’m also glad to see Karbach is already using ink jet technologies in their canning process. The specific beer was crafted on August 3, 2016.
